Frogs begin play Monday at 8:22 a.m.
FORT WORTH – TCU will compete at the Big 12 Men's Golf Championship, starting on Monday at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kan.
TCU will go with the lineup of sophomore Mateo Fernández de Oliveira, sophomore Jacob Skov Olesen, freshman Filippo Celli, sophomore Gustav Frimodt and sophomore Aymeric Laussot. All five will be playing in their first Big 12 Championship.
The Horned Frogs will play 36 holes Monday, 18 holes on Tuesday and 18 holes on Wednesday. As the No. 6 seed, TCU will be paired with No. 5 seed Baylor on Monday and begin at 8:22 a.m. on hole No. 10.
Spectators are permitted and the event is free of charge. It is requested that spectators wear masks and follow physical distancing protocols.

THE COURSE – Par 70 | 6,947 yards
Prairie Dunes has become a destination course for golfers worldwide with its links-style course with rolling hills reminiscent of the seaside courses in Scotland. Prairie Dunes has hosted the U.S. Women's Open, the U.S. Senior Open and numerous USGA events as well as the 2014 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship. It last hosted the Big 12 Championship in 2017.
To add to the challenge of Prairie Dunes, the weather forecast for the week is typical of Kansas in the spring time with temperatures between 60 and 80 degrees and winds 20-30 mph.
LAST TIME OUT
TCU had its best outing of the season last week when it won the Thunderbird Collegiate by four strokes over a talented field. The Horned Frogs shot 34-under 818 and defeated top 25 teams No. 3 Oklahoma State, No. 12 Arizona State, No. 16 North Carolina and No. 20 Arizona. Jacob Skov Olesen led four Frogs in the top 15 at 11-under 202 and placed fourth.
NOTES
- TCU was named Golfweek's men's college team of the week after winning the Thunderbird Collegiate.
- Hayden Springer is the defending Big 12 Champion. The Trophy Club, Texas native won the tournament in 2019 at The Greenbrier in West Virginia, holding off Oklahoma State's Viktor Hovland. Springer was TCU's seventh conference champion. Julien Brun also on the Big 12 in 2014. Two of the last six Big 12 Championships has seen a Horned Frog win.
- TCU has won nine conference championships, the last one occurring in 2009 when it won the Mountain West Conference. Last season, TCU finished a program-best second at the Big 12 Championship at The Greenbrier.
- In seven stroke play tournaments this season, five different golfers have led the Horned Frogs. Olesen has been the team's top finisher three times.
- Filippo Celli leads the team with a stroke average of 71.50 (+.25). The freshman is a combined 19-under par in the last two tournaments (six rounds).
- Mateo Fernández de Oliveira is ranked 98th in the latest World Amateur Golf Rankings. He ranks third on the team with a stroke average of 72.10.
- Jacob Skov Olesen leads the Frogs with a stroke average of 71.50. He won co-medalist honors at The Prestige on Feb. 17 and has had three top 10 finishes. Olesen has had seven consecutive rounds of scoring under par.
- TCU jumped up 14 spots in the latest GolfStat rankings to No. 48. The Horned Frogs have made 30 consecutive NCAA Regional appearances.
- TCU was saddened in November with the sudden passing of longtime volunteer assistant Dana Bellenger. In December, TCU announced the creation of the Dana Bellenger Endowed Scholarship for Men's Golf. Bellenger's initials "DB" will be visible on TCU's hat throughout the season.
- Bill Montigel is in his 41st season at TCU and his 34th season as the head coach of TCU men's golf. Associate Head Coach Adrien Mork is in his fourth season at TCU.
