
TCU Holds Steady on Opening Day at Big 12

Two Frogs are in the top 10
HUTCHINSON, Kan. – After 36 holes Monday at Prairie Dunes Country Club, the TCU men's golf team sits in fourth place at the Big 12 Championship.
A steady 20 MPH wind and challenging course made for high scores. The Horned Frogs shot 29-over 589, one stroke ahead of No. 22 Texas Tech. They are five strokes from No. 6 Texas (+24). No. 1 ranked Oklahoma leads at 17-over 577.
Sophomore Mateo Fernández de Oliveira was consistent over two rounds and led TCU at 4-over 144 and tied for fourth. He had rounds of 1-over 71 and 3-over 73. Fernández de Oliveira is six back of the leaders, Quade Cummins of Oklahoma and Bo Jin of Oklahoma State.
Freshman Filippo Celli was one of three in the field under par in the first round with a 1-under 69. He was just one stroke out of first after the opening round. Following a 7-over 77, Celli is tied for eighth at 6-over 146.
Sophomore Aymeric Laussot is tied for 23rd at 11-over 151 and sophomore Gustav Frimodt is one stroke behind at 12-over 152 and is tied for 28th.
TCU will play the third round with Texas on Tuesday at 8:45 a.m. off hole No. 10.
