WACO, Texas – Looking for its first conference championship in program history, the seventh-ranked TCU equestrian team heads to Waco for the Big 12 Championship, which will run Friday, March 26 and Saturday, March 27. TCU will face Fresno State in the first round, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Willis Family Equestrian Center.
DIRECTOR OF EQUESTRIAN HALEY SCHOOLFIELD
"It's here, the moment we have been waiting for. We have been preparing for this since these girls got on campus in August, now it's our time to show what we are made of. This is a confident and strong group that is up to the task."
ALL-TIME CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY
This year's Big 12 Championship will be the first time back in the four-team format since the 2015-16 season when Kansas State competed.
The Frogs enter as the No. 3 seed for the fifth-consecutive Championship; TCU is 2-4 when facing the No. 2 seed.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Fresno State (5-3, 2-1 Big 12) will be competing in their first Big 12 Championship as an affiliate member of the conference. The Bulldogs won the first matchup between the two sides this year in a tiebreaker, 8-8. Fresno State has won the last two meetings with TCU, but the Frogs lead the all-time series, 11-9.
Bailey Alexander was named the NCEA Reining Rider of the Month for March this past week. The sophomore was 4-1 in the month with four wins coming on unfamiliar horses.
SCOUTING THE 1 vs. 4
Oklahoma State comes in as the No. 1 seed in the Championship. The Cowgirls finished the season 4-1, with TCU handing OSU its only loss. Baylor enters the Championship 1-6 and looking for a strong weekend to boost its resume for an NCEA National Championship bid.
