Gray, Fearnley and Paroulek turn in 2-0 days with 4-0 sweep over No. 50 SMU
FORT WORTH – No. 6 TCU men's tennis (10-4) bounced back with a quick, 4-0 sweep of No. 50 SMU on Saturday afternoon at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center in Fort Worth, Texas. The Horned Frogs won a tight doubles point before winning three singles matches in convincing fashion to improve to 3-0 at home this season.
"I felt coming into this match our team's character would be tested and I am very proud of the way our team responded," head coach David Roditi said. "It started with a very good comeback at No. 1 doubles to win the doubles point and then very good performances in all singles courts. SMU is a tough team and it is always difficult to play since we know each other so well and we see each other a lot. It was great to finally play at home in front of our fans and I'm sure our players were excited to do that. Now we get ready for another tough road match Tuesday night in Aggieland against a top 10 team. Go Frogs!"
TCU claimed the doubles point with wins from Sander Jong / Tadeas Paroulek and Jake Fearnley / Alastair Gray. Jong and Paroulek used a late break to win their match, 6-3, before Gray and Fearnley clinched the doubles point by winning six of the final seven games, erasing a 1-4 deficit, to win their match, 7-5.
