AUSTIN, Texas – TCU finished tied for seventh at the George Hannon Collegiate Tuesday at the University of Texas Golf Club.
Facing the majority of the Big 12 Conference, the Horned Frogs had a score of 24-over 876 and finished ahead of Baylor, Kansas State and West Virginia. No. 12 ranked Texas won the tournament at 17-under 835, followed by No. 2 Oklahoma (-9), No. 19 Texas Tech (-9) and No. 11 Oklahoma State (-5).
The Horned Frogs were led by freshman Filippo Celli, who in his second-career tournament finished 3-over 216 and finished tied for 20th place. The Italian had a final-round score of 2-over 73. He led TCU with six birdies for the tournament.
Sophomore Mateo Fernández de Oliveira had an impressive front nine score of 3-under 32 with the help of three birdies. He finished 3-over 74 to end the tournament with a score of 5-over 218 and tied for 28th.
Sophomore Jacob Skov Olesen was 6-over 77 for the day and 8-over 221 for the tournament to place tied for 42nd.
The Horned Frogs are back in action March 25-27 at The Goodwin in Stanford, Calif.
