HOW IT HAPPENED:
Set 1 (KU, 25-14): Kansas started the match with strong defensive play at the net, earning four of its first nine points from blocks to take the lead, 9-4. The Frogs settled down after a timeout to keep the lead within reach, but a late Jayhawk run would result in an 11-point loss. Adams led the team with three kills, Dennison paced the defense with five digs. Heist and Nichols each finished with four assists.
Set 2 (TCU, 25-20): The TCU offense came to life in the second set, led by seven kills from Afedo Manyang. The combination of Nichols and Heist at setter made it difficult for KU to anticipate passes, allowing the Frogs to hit an impressive .343 in the set. KU held a 10-8 lead early on, but three kills from Manyang, two from Adams and a service ace from Georgiades put the Frogs on a 6-0 run, 14-10. TCU never relinquished the lead from there, winning the set on a service error to tie the match. Manyang led the team with her seven kills. Dennison was strong again in the back row with four digs. Heist and Nichols combined for 14 assists.
Set 3 (KU, 25-19): Kansas jumped out to an 11-3 lead thanks to yet another string of quality play from the block. TCU fought back late, shrinking the lead to as little as five points, 15-20, but KU would survive to take a one set advantage. Audrey Nalls paced the offense with three kills in the set. The TCU defense delivered 23 digs, led by Raiola and Dennison, with six each.
Set 4 (KU, 25-14): For the second set in a row, KU got in front big, early, 12-3. The Frogs couldn't manage to cut into the lead for the remainder of the set and lost by 11 points. Raiola was the offensive story of the set, delivering five kills on seven swings (.714 hitting) to help her reach 12 kills, her second highest total as a Frog.
