
Frogs Earn Big Win over No. 3 SMU

Frogs earn upset in first ranked matchup of the season
FORT WORTH – The seventh-ranked TCU equestrian team upset third-ranked SMU, 12-6, Wednesday afternoon at Diamond Creek Ranch. It was the Frogs' second consecutive upset win dating back to last year when they beat No. 6 Georgia in the season finale.

THE RUNDOWN
TCU (3-0) opened the day with a 3-2 win in Fences. Ashleigh Scully earned the highest score of the event with an 83 on Phia. Alex Beneson claimed the MOP in the event, carding an 81 on Fats. Raegan Rast picked up the final point for the Frogs, winning 79-64 on Elle.
In Reining, SMU (2-1, 2-0 ECAC) won its only event of the day, 2-1. Sarah Armenta came out with the biggest score of the day, 71.5, on Snoop Dogg to top Chalyce Head's 70.5. Bella Andrews and Shea Graham both tied in their rides with scores of 70 and 69.5, respectively.
After the break, TCU earned a big 4-1 win in Flat action. Jacey Albaugh was the MOP and the highest scorer of the event, totaling an 84 on Oki. Alex Beneson continues to perform in the event earning an 83-74 win on Caprilli. Wynne Weatherly picked up her first win of the year while Ashleigh Scully remains unbeaten in Flat action.
The Frogs finished the day out strong with a 4-1 victory in Horsemanship. Giorgia Medows earned the highest score for the Frogs, winning 74.5-72.5 on Chip over SMU's Aubrey Alderman. Anna Hauter followed her with a 73 on Bob, Shea Graham and Mattie Dukes picked up the last two points for the Frogs in the event.

- The Frogs improved to 7-5 all-time against SMU, TCU is 5-1 when facing SMU at home.
- TCU earned its largest margin of win against a top-3 opponent since Mar. 9, 2019 when it beat No. 3 SMU, 13-7.
- TCU won its 60th meet all-time as a ranked team. The Frogs are 36-17 at home when they are ranked.
- TCU is 7-1 in the last two seasons when winning Horsemanship.
- SMU had Jumping Seat raw score of 755 and a Western raw score of 707.5, both were the highest for a TCU opponent this season.
- The Flat team won 4-1 over a ranked team for the first time since Mar. 31, 2018 when it beat Baylor in the Big 12 Championship.
