
Rifle Closes Regular Season With Victory

Hemphill, Christensen and Allan turn in career-highs
FORT WORTH – The TCU women's rifle team turned in a solid performance in the final regular season match of the season. The Horned Frogs fired a team score of 4,707, while Air Force turned in a team tally of 4,683. Kristen Hemphill paced the field, matching her career high with an 1,188 aggregate score.
Hemphill paced all shooters with a 590 in smallbore, while tying with teammate Stephanie Grundsoee in air rifle after shooting a 598. Grundsoee sat second among all shooters with an aggregate tally of 1,186.
Stephanie Allan put up a career-high 1,172 aggregate score to finish fourth in the match. Noelle Christensen also set a new personal-best in aggregate score with a 1,163 to round out the top 10 individuals.
The Frogs fired in a team score of 2,330 in smallbore, posting four of the top seven scores. Grundsoee shot a 588 to place second, followed by Grace Taschuk's 579, which was seventh. Rounding out the counters were Abigail Gordon with a 573 and Nina Schuett with a 571.
Allan tied her smallbore career-high with a 582 to finish fourth in the match. Noelle Christensen matched her career-high 576 to finish ninth.
In air rifle, the Frogs produced five of the top seven scores in the match for a team score of 2,377. Gordon finished fifth with a 591. Schuett fired a 590 to finish seventh and Taschuck a 585 for an 11th-place finish.
Allan fired a career-high 590 in air rifle to finish sixth in the discipline. Christensen also turned in a career-high in air rifle, shooting a 587.
Air Force fired a team score of 2,319 in smallbore and 2,364 in air rifle. The Falcons were led by Peter Fiori with an 1,174 (580 smallbore; 594 air rifle) aggregate. Morgan Kreb was the team's top air rifle shooter with a 595, while Jordan Williams was the top smallbore shooter with a 583.
TCU and Air Force will shoot the NCAA qualifier on Saturday. The score will be the final piece to determine the top 8 teams for the NCAA Tournament. The match is slated to begin at 8:30.
