Frogs finish seventh as a team
LA QUINTA, Calif. – Sophomore Jacob Skov Olesen earned co-medalist honors to lead TCU to a seventh-place finish at The Prestige on Wednesday at the Greg Norman Course at The Club at PGA West.
The Denmark native shot 1-under 70 on Wednesday to finish 4-under 209 for the tournament with all three rounds at or under par. Olesen held a three-stroke lead with four to play, but a double bogey on the par 4 No. 6 hole helped two players to catch up to him. Olesen tied with the world's 10th-ranked amateur, Ludvig Aberg from Texas Tech and No. 46th ranked Trevor Werbylo of Arizona.
Olesen is the first TCU player to earn medalist honors since Hayden Springer won the 2019 Big 12 Conference Championship.
Sophomore Gustav Frimodt finished tied for 12th place. He shot 1-over 72 on Wednesday and finished 1-over 214 for the tournament, which tied a career-low.
As a team, TCU shot 14-over 866. Its seventh-place finish was better than No. 16 ranked Texas Tech (+17) and No. 9 San Diego State (+18). No. 11 Arizona and North Carolina each finished at 4-under 848 to win the tournament.
TCU will next compete at the Trinity Forest Invitational, held March 7-9 at Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas.
