ROUND ROCK, Texas – A pair of goals from Messiah Bright in the first half had No. 7 TCU on its way en route to a 3-0 win over Texas Tech in the semifinals of the Big 12 Tournament. The Horned Frogs ran its unbeaten streak to 10 games and propels them to their fifth appearance in the Big 12 Championship game.
The Rundown
TCU had its foot on the gas from the opening touch and translated that into a 2-0 first half lead. Messiah Bright notched both goals as the Horned Frogs built an 8-3 shot advantage in the first frame.
The hard work by the Frogs was rewarded in the 11th minute when Bright found the back of the net for her first of the game. Jenna Winebrenner sent a long ball down field. Bright collected the ball and worked free of her defender before depositing the opening tally.
Just 18 minutes later, Bright had her second goal. Grace Collins fed Oli Pena down the sideline. Pena's one-touch pass found Bright in space and she looped it over the keeper's head for a 2-0 lead.
Texas Tech came out with a hard push in the second half, but could never find any dangerous looks despite tallying seven shots in the half.
The push by the Red Raiders opened the door for the Frogs offensively and they put the game away in the 80th minute on a goal by Skylar Heinrich. Lauren Memoly crossed the ball into the six yard box. Gracie Brian tapped the ball to a wide-open Heinrich for the tap-in goal.
Lauren Kellett needed to make just two saves in the game. Her best came in the 85th minute as Kirsten Davis' shot deflected off a defender, but Kellett made a leaping save to preserve the shutout.
Stat of the Game

Quotes of the Game
Head Coach Eric Bell
On the difference in the two games against Texas Tech:
"The surface was a big difference for us. We got a chance to play on grass today which I think suits us better. We were able to knock the ball around, change the point of attack and get Messiah (Bright) into really good spots to do her thing. We had a really professional approach in the first half. I'm happy with the result."
