
Frogs Finish Sixth at Colonial

Gums defeats four of the world's top seven players to finish tied for ninth
FORT WORTH – In a tournament that included eight of the nation's top 25 teams, TCU finished sixth Tuesday at the Colonial Collegiate Invitational.
The Horned Frogs finished with a score of 15-over 855, ahead of No. 6 Texas, No. 7 Clemson, No. 18 Vanderbilt and No. 19 Georgia. No. 12 Stanford (-3) won the 15-team tournament over No. 1 Oklahoma (-2).
Justin Gums shot 1-under 69 in the final round at Colonial Country Club and finished at even-par 210. The senior finished in the top 10 for the second consecutive tournament as he tied for ninth place with Joe Highsmith of Pepperdine. Playing alongside some of the best collegiate golfers, Gums finished higher than the No. 2, No. 4, No. 6 and No. 7 amateur golfers in the world. Michael Brennan (-11) of Wake Forest won the championship, finishing six strokes better than runner-up Michael Thorbjornsen (-5) of Stanford.
In his season debut, Aymeric Laussot finished tied for 20th with a score of 3-over 213. He had his best round of the tournament on Tuesday, shooting even-par.
Jacob Skov Olesen finished one stroke back of Laussot at 4-over 214 and tied for 25th.
The Horned Frogs will be back in action Oct. 11-13 at the Big 12 Match Play Tournament, held at The Clubs at Houston Oaks in Hockley, Texas.
