Rifle Stays Perfect, Tops VMI

Stephanie Allan and Anne White fire career-highs in smallbore
LEXINGTON, Va. - The TCU women's rifle team secured a win over VMI for the second weekend in a row to remain undefeated on the season. The Horned Frogs fired a team aggregate score of 4,722, twelve points better than last weekend and topped VMI (4,501) and VMI Women's team (4,392).
Stephanie Allan shot a 584 in smallbore, marking another career high for the junior, and freshman Anne White shot a career-high 575 in the same discipline.
TCU fired a smallbore team score of 2,349, an improvement from last weekend, and a 2,373 in air rifle. VMI finished with 2,210 in smallbore and 2,291 in air rifle while VMI Women's team fired a 2,132 in smallbore and 2,260 in air rifle.
TCU posted eight of the top 10 scores in smallbore. Stephanie Grundsoee finished with a score of 592, leading all shooters in the discipline. Coming in second, Kristen Hemphill fired a 588, improving her score from last week. Nina Schuett wasn't far behind with a 585, tying her career high. Also contributing to the team score was Abigail Gordon, who shot a 578.
In air rifle, White served as a counter for the first time in her collegiate career and helped her team with a score of 590. Grundsoee completed the match with a 596 and one point behind her was Hemphill with a 595. Gordon secured third in the discipline with a 592. Also contributing to the team's score was Allan, who shot a 590.
Overall, TCU produced the top eight competitors in the match.
TCU's smallbore score (2,349) is tied for fourth-best in program history and the team's aggregate score (4,722) is tied for thirteenth-best in program history.
The Horned Frogs will have a two week break before taking on The Citadel on Oct. 23 in Charleston, SC.
