Grundsoee, White and Allan all set personal bests
CHARLESTON, S.C.— The TCU women's rifle team fired an aggregate score of 4,720, beating The Citadel (4,561) and The Citadel Women's team (4,309).
Stephanie Grundsoee led the squad in smallbore with a career high 596, a mark that is the second-best in program history. Anne White set another career high with a 596 in air rifle and a 1,171 aggregate score.
The team fired a smallbore score of 2,344 and an air rifle score of 2,376. The Citadel finished with 2,251 in smallbore and 2,310 in air rifle, while the school's women's team finished with 2,086 and 2,223, respectively.
TCU secured seven of the top 10 spots in smallbore. Kristen Hemphill and Nina Schuett tied for second in the discipline, both with scores of 583. Not far behind them were Stephanie Allan with a 582 and Abigail Gordon with a 580.
Allan tied her career high in air rifle with a 596 and beat her career high in center shots with 55 to lead all shooters in the discipline. In total, TCU produced six of the top 10 air rifle marks. Grundsoee finished third with a 593, followed by Hemphill's 591. Schuett fired a 590 to finish fifth and Gordon sixth after shooting a 586. Grace Taschuk turned in an eighth place finish with a 583.
TCU will travel to West Point, N.Y. to take on Army next Saturday, Oct. 30.
