TCU takes on eight ranked teams when play begins at 8 a.m. Friday
FORT WORTH – TCU will finish the fall season at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate Invitational, starting Friday at the Golf Club of Georgia in Alpharetta, Ga.
Having the sixth toughest schedule in the country currently, the Horned Frogs continue to play with some of the best teams in the nation. Eight of the 14 teams played in the 2021 NCAA Championship, including national champion Pepperdine. Eight teams are ranked in the top 25 by Golfstat.
The Horned Frogs' lineup will be junior Jacob Skov Olesen, junior Aymeric Laussot, junior Gustav Frimodt, senior Justin Gums and senior Thomas Allkins.
The 54-hole tournament will have 18 holes each day beginning Friday at 8 a.m. CT. The teams will start Saturday at 8 a.m. CT and Sunday at 7:30 a.m. CT.

THE COURSE – Par 72 | 7,092 yards
The teams will be playing the Lakeside Course at The Golf Club of Georgia. The course was ranked Best New Private Course by Golf Digest when it was built in 1991. It was ranked 12th in the state of Georgia for 2013-14. Its signature hole is a 607-yard par 5. Some PGA Tour players practice on their "lightning fast" greens in preparation of Masters week at Augusta National.
LAST TIME OUT
TCU finished fifth at the Big 12 Match Play Tournament with a record of 2-2-1, including a win over No. 11 Kansas on the final day. Gustav Frimodt went unbeaten with a record of 4-0-1.
TOURNAMENT NOTES
- A regular at the tournament, TCU finished 13th in the 2019 Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate Invitational. Thomas Allkins led the Frogs with an 11th place finish.
TEAM/PROGRAM NOTES
- With two top 10 finishes, Justin Gums currently ranks 18th in the Bushnell/Golfweek rankings.
- Having already played in three very competitive tournaments, the Carmel Cup, the Maridoe Collegiate Invitational and the Colonial Collegiate Invitational, TCU's strength of schedule is currently ranked as the sixth strongest in the nation by Bushnell/Golfweek.
- TCU lost three from last year's team and welcome newcomers Ethan Dial, Brent Hamm (Troy) and Jan Schneider (Washington).
- Among the 10 returners are four that played in TCU's postseason run last spring. Jacob Skov Olesen led TCU a team-high four times and was on the PING All-Central Region Team. Gustav Frimodt was Academic All-Big 12 and had 10 rounds of par or better. Aymeric Laussot had eight rounds of par or better. TCU's top finisher at the Big 12 Championship was Filippo Celli who led the Frogs with an average score of 71.77 last season. He won't be available in the fall, but will join the team in the spring.
- TCU has qualified for four of the last six and eight of the last 12 NCAA Championships. TCU has advanced to 18 of the past 31 NCAA Championships since 1991.
- TCU is one of nine programs to finish in the top 20 of the NCAA Championships in five of the last eight seasons. Those programs are Arizona State, Auburn, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas, TCU and Vanderbilt.
- TCU is one of 15 schools to play in the last two NCAA Championships.
- TCU and Clemson are the only two programs to make the last 31 NCAA Regionals with the same head coach. Last season was Clemson head coach Larry Penley's 38th and final season at the school.
- Bill Montigel is in his 42nd season at TCU and his 35th season as the head coach of TCU men's golf. Associate Head Coach Adrien Mork is in his fifth season at TCU.
