The Horned Frogs Battle No. 1 Texas in Gregory Gymnasium
FORT WORTH – TCU volleyball (7-7, 1-3) has a chance at history this weekend as the Horned Frogs travel to Austin for a road series against No. 1 Texas (13-0, 4-0). TCU is riding winning momentum into this weekend after defeating Oklahoma, 3-2 in its last outing. These matches will be the fifth and sixth all-time meeting between TCU and the No. 1 ranked team in the AVCA Coaches Poll, the Horned Frogs are looking for their first-ever victory over a No. 1 ranked opponent.

Series History: TCU vs Texas
- This week will be the 22nd and 23rd all-time meetings between TCU and Texas. The Longhorns lead the series, 20-1.
- TCU is looking for its first victory over Texas in Austin in program history,
- This will be the fifth and sixth all-time meeting between TCU and the No. 1 ranked team in the nation. TCU is 0-4 in past matches - at Penn State (8/29/14), at Texas (10/30/13), at Baylor (10/12/19) and at Texas (11/16/19).
- Sophomore Taylor Raiola hit .700 in her first match against Texas, last season (April 1, 2021) - the highest hitting percentage in program history by a Horned Frog against Texas with a minimum of 10 attacks. She leads all active Horned Frogs with a .481 career hit % vs. UT.
- Junior Afedo Manyang made nine kills with .538 hitting against Texas last season (April 1, 2021) her highest hitting percentage in a Big 12 match throughout her career.
- Junior MyKayla Myers made five blocks in six sets against UT last season (0.83 blocks/set). She averaged 0.76 blocks/set against all other opponents throughout the 2020-21 campaign.
- Junior Bella Swafford hit two service aces in her only previous match in Gregory Gymnasium, her first-career multi-ace match. She leads TCU's active players with 0.25 aces/set against UT.
Dani Queen of Digs
- Senior Dani Dennison will end her career as the greatest DS/L in program history.
- She set the TCU program record for career digs in last match - 1,441
- Dennison has played in all 124 matches over her college career, starting a majority at libero. She holds the 3rd longest streak of consecutive matches played in program history, she will tie the 2nd longest streak should she play in both matches this week.
- Her 2.06 digs/set this season is third most on the team. She also leads the team with 11 service aces
- Dennison led TCU in digs last season, finishing with 287 in 21 matches, becoming the first Horned Frog in program history to lead the team in total digs over three seasons (2017, 2019 and 2020/21).

- TCU is 21st in the nation in blocks/set this season, averaging 2.64
- MyKayla Myers (1.32) is second in the Big 12 and 29th in the nation while Madi Cole (1.27) sits close behind, she's fifth in the conference and 46th in the nation.
- The Horned Frogs are one of just four teams in the nation (Louisville, LSU and Maryland) and the only team in the Big 12 with multiple players in the national Top 50
- McKenzie Nichols (0.83) is third among setters, just .13 shy of leading the nation.
- The Horned Frogs have made 4.0 blocks/set or better in three matches this season (vs. Nicholls, vs. UTRGV and vs. UIW). Set the program record with 5.5 blocks/set vs. UIW (9/14/21).
- TCU has not had three such matches in the same season since 2015.
- TCU's individual block/set record is held by Regan McGuire (1.54 in 2015). Myers and Cole are both close to that mark, just 0.22 and 0.27 away, respectively.
- Cole has set two program records in the first 10 matches of her career: most blocks in a four-set match (12.0 vs. UIW) and most blocks in a collegiate debut (4.0 at No. 2 Wisconsin).
- MyKayla Myers, Taylor Raiola and McKenzie Nichols have already surpassed their previous season-highs for blocks in a single season this year.
- Myers (6-0) is second in the nation in blocks/set by athletes 6ft. tall or shorter.
Scouting the Opponent: Texas
- The Longhorns enter the weekend as the unanimous No. 1-ranked team in the nation according to the AVCA Coaches Poll. This is the seventh consecutive week for Texas at No. 1
- They are third in the nation, and best among Power 5, in hitting percentage (.326) and service aces per set (2.13) through 13 matches.
- Skylar Fields was named AVCA National Player of the week two weeks ago after she led the Longhorns to a pair of 3-0 sweeps over West Virginia in Texas' last home series. Fields made 31 kills in six sets (5.17 kills/set) on .537 hitting in that stretch. She leads the Longhorns with 3.89 kills/set and .332 hitting this year.
- Texas leads the all-time series against TCU, 20-1. The Horned Frogs lone victory over Texas came at home in head coach Jill Kramer's first season (2015).
