The Frogs defeated Kansas and Iowa State Wednesday
HOCKLEY, Texas – With a pair of 4-2-0 wins on Wednesday, the TCU men's golf team placed fifth at the Big 12 Match Play Tournament, held at The Clubs at Houston Oaks.
To complete pool play, sixth-seeded TCU defeated 10th-seeded Iowa State in the morning. The Horned Frogs then faced No. 5 seed Kansas in the championship round in the afternoon. The Jayhawks were ranked 11th nationally in Golfstat's first ranking of the season, which came out on Wednesday.
No. 3 seed Texas won the event with a 3-2-1 win over No. 4 seed Texas Tech.
Chris Berzina, Gustav Frimodt, Aymeric Laussot and Jacob Skov Olesen went 2-0 on the day. Frimodt went unbeaten, finishing with a record of 4-0-1.
TCU finished 2-2-1 to move to 7-11-2 all-time at the Big 12 Match Play Tournament. Fifth place matches its best finish in the fourth-year event.
The Horned Frogs will complete their fall schedule at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate, Oct. 22-24, in Alpharetta, Ga.
