Horned Frogs come up short in neutral site match

AUSTIN – TCU women's tennis dropped a match to No. 12 Stanford on Friday afternoon in Austin, Texas.

DOUBLES RECAP
The Horned Frogs couldn't contain the ranked pairings from Stanford in doubles play, dropping matches on one and three to concede the doubles point. Marie Norris and Addy Guevara were on a roll in their match on two. The duo fell behind, 1-4 and was on a run of four straight games won, 5-4. The match was suspended due to the clinch on the other courts just before the pair would serve for the match.

SINGLES RECAP
Marie Norris brought her new, No. 69 ranking into the No. 1 singles slot for the first time in her career. What awaited was a match against the No. 9-ranked singles player, Michaela Gordon. Norris battled hard through the first set, pushing Gordon to the limit. Norris broke back on three occasions in the opening set, only to fall in a tiebreak, 7-6(4). Her second set completed just one game before play was suspended.

Stevie Kennedy and Kate Paulus each had strong opening sets as well. Kennedy kept her match on serve for a majority of the opening frame, suffering a late break to drop it, 4-6 against No. 66 Arbuthnott. Paulus started out strong against No. 11 Blake but couldn't get a break later in the set. Both of their matches were suspended in the second set.

Stanford managed wins on courts four and five to clinch the match. TCU forfeited court six.
