Horned Frogs take the doubles point in 4-1 loss.
FORT WORTH – TCU women's tennis couldn't get the result to match their effort Sunday evening as they fell to Texas Tech in a home, non-conference clash inside the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. The Horned Frogs won the doubles point and were locked in tight fights across three courts into the evening but couldn't get the wins in time.
DOUBLES RECAP
TCU took the doubles point on courts one and three to secure what would be their only point of the duel.
Mercedes and Chloe fell behind a break early but rallied soon afterwards, breaking back to bring the match on serve, 4-4. After a tidy hold, the duo broke again to win the match, 6-4. It was the first win of the season for the new pairing in their first match together.
Kate Paulus and Stevie Kennedy clinched the match with a clever 6-3 victory on court one. The pair kept the match on serve, 4-3, until a massive break put them in front, 5-3. Kennedy would hold serve in the following game to win the match. It was the first win of the season for the duo, in their third match together at No. 1 doubles.

SINGLES RECAP
After Paulus was forced to retire at the beginning of her match at No.4, the Red Raiders claimed wins on three, five and two to win the match.
The Horned Frogs held off the Tech attack late, when three matches went to third sets after TTU was in front, 3-1. Marie Norris couldn't see the end of her thrilling contest with Olivia Peet at No. 1. The first two sets needed a full 12 games and a tiebreak to determine winners with Peet claiming the first set, 7-5, then Norris the second set in a tiebreak, 7-6 (1). Norris was building momentum from that tiebreak win in her third set, up 4-1, when play was halted.
Chloe Hule was putting on a show at No. 6. She battled to a 7-5 first set win and was on serve in her third set when play came to an end. She will be one to watch when these two teams meet up again in March for a Big 12 match in Lubbock.
