TCU embarks on second road trip of 2020 season
FORT WORTH – TCU volleyball will play its third week of competition on the road as the Horned Frogs travel east for a weekend series against West Virginia. The matches will be played on Thursday, Oct. 15 at 6 p.m. CT on ESPNU and Friday, Oct. 16 at 5 p.m. CT on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.

Series Quick Hits
- TCU is currently riding a five-match win streak against West Virginia, the longest win streak in the series' history.
- This is the longest winning streak against a Big 12 conference opponent in TCU Volleyball history.
- Since both teams joined the Big 12, in 2012, TCU leads the series 12-4. TCU is 4-4 all-time at WVU Coliseum.

- Sophomore Afedo Manyang is playing on the right side for the first time in her career this season.
- She has taken the position by storm, hitting eight kills on .375 hitting in her first match of the year before breaking through in her series against Texas Tech.
- Against Texas Tech, in just her second series at her new position, went off for 4.33 kills/set.
- She set a career-high with 24 kills on Oct. 8 against Texas Tech, shattering her previous career-best of 11 kills, set last season while she was in the middle.
- Her 24 kills in a single match stands tied for the most kills in a single match in the conference this season, tied with Julia Adams, who also hit 24 in that same match.
- She leads the team with 3.27 kills/set this season, the 9th-best rate in the conference.
- Manyang is still a major threat at the net as well. Despite moving to the pin, Manyang is showing her middle blocker roots with her blocking game.
- She led the team with three blocks in her 24-kill match against Tech, leading to 26.5 points, tied for the highest point total by a Big 12 student-athlete this season.
- Manyang has more than doubled her kills/set from her freshman season so far in 2020 (1.62 kills/set in 2019)
- She's done so while also leading the team with a .257 hitting percentage
- Manyang had posted two 10+ kill matches in 2019. She has already matched that total in 2020 in just four matches.
- Manyang and Adams averaged 8.55 kills/set in TCU's last two matches against Texas Tech. the best average by a Horned Frog tandem over the course of two matches in the Jill Kramer era.
- She's done damage against WVU already in her career. Manyang averaged 1.00 blocks/set in both matches against West Virginia throughout her freshman season.
12-Carat Jewel
- Julia Adams has proven herself to be one of the primary options on the TCU attack in her second season at TCU.
- She earned a 2019 Big 12 All-Freshman team nod after 2019 and has built on that momentum heading into 2020.
- Adams has led the team in attacks in three of four matches this season and has often turned those attacks into kills.
- She is second on the team with 48 kills (3.20/set). Just one kill behind Manyang.
- She also collected 24 kills on Oct. 8 against Texas Tech, setting her career high in the process.
- Adams followed that with a 14 kill performance the next night, leading to 4.22 kills/set.
- Her 24 kills are tied for the most kills in a single match in the Big 12, along with Manyang.
- Adams is playing in all six rotations for the first time in her collegiate career. She has taken to the new responsibilities well, posting 1.07 digs in her four matches.
- Adams finished her freshman season with a season-best four digs, a total she has already surpassed twice so far, including her new career-best seven digs on Oct. 8, against Texas Tech.
- Her attention on the defensive end has extended beyond just digs. Adams has collected solo blocks in back-to-back matches for the first time in her career.
- Adams played in the road match at WVU last season, posting 17 kills in four sets in one of the best offensive performances from her freshman season.
Scouting the Opponent: West Virginia
- West Virginia enters play this week with a 3-3 record, including a series sweep over Kansas, on the road, last weekend.
- Junior Natali Petrova leads the tram with 3.04 kills/set through six matches. She transfered into West Virginia this season after spending last season at Tyler Junior College.
- Senior Briana Lynch is having a strong senior campaign, collecting 0.93 blocks/set and 2.78 kills/set on a team-best .417 hitting down the middle.
- The Mountaineers have been one of the top teams in the conference at the net. They are third in kills/set with 13.26 and third in the conference in blocks/set with 2.15/set.
