TCU Volleyball begins its 25th season on the road against No. 2 Baylor
FORT WORTH – TCU volleyball is set to begin its 25th season with a pair of road matches against No. 2 Baylor, in Waco. The matches will be played Friday and Saturday at 5 p.m. inside the Ferrell Center. The Horned Frogs are the final team in the Big 12 to begin their season after the other eight programs in the Big 12 started the season last weekend, TCU was on a bye.

Series Quick Hits
- TCU is opening up its season against Baylor for the first time in program history.
- TCU is 15-9 in season opening matches and has won each of its last five season openers.
- Since joining the Big 12 in before the 2012 season, Baylor leads the all-time series, 10-6.
- Last season, the TCU offense produced strong results in its home match against the Bears. Despite the loss, the Horned Frogs delivered a program-best 45 kills in three sets against the Bears, including 21 in the third set. TCU setter McKenzie Nichols also set a program record for the most assists in a three-set match against Baylor with 35 last October.
Radical Returners
- The Horned Frogs return six of the seven starters, including libero, that started the NIVC semifinal match last season.
- All-Big 12 selections, Katie Clark (second team) and Julia Adams (rookie team) are each back for their junior and sophomore season respectively.
- The Horned Frogs return 2019 statistical leaders in each of the following categories:
- They bring back all three of their 200+ kill performers: Clark, Adams and Audrey Nalls. No other team in the conference brings back all of their student-athletes with 200+ kills and only Iowa State returns more than three.
Preseason Honors
- The Big 12 coaches recognized junior middle blocker Katie Clark as a unanimous selection to the preseason all-conference team.
- This was the first preseason award for Clark, who was named to the 2019 All-Big 12 second team and all NIVC first-team at the conclusion of last season.
- "Katie has continued to develop in multiple positions over the past couple of years," head coach Jill Kramer said. "Last season she played right side, left side and ended up proving to be one of the most dominating middle blockers in our league. We are excited for her continued development and contributions to our team this upcoming season."
Scouting the Opponent: Baylor
- Baylor enters the season as 2019 conference co-champions after posting a 15-1 record in Big 12 play last season. The Bears reached the Final Four in the NCAA tournament off the play of now-senior, Yossiana Pressley. Baylor fell to Wisconsin the national semifinals, the Badgers went on to lose to Stanford in the National Championship match.
- Pressley returns for her senior season after earning 2019 AVCA National Player of the Year and 2019 ESPNW National Player of the Year last season. She has collected over 500 kills in consecutive seasons and averaged a remarkable 5.82 points/set last year.
- Baylor also returns its All-American setter, Hannah Sedwick. She led the conference with 11.46 assists/set last season while adding in 0.75 blocks/set defensively.
- The Bears began their season with a series split at Kansas last weekend (2-3 & 3-0)
- Redshirt Sophomore Lauren Harrison led the Bears in kills last weekend with 29. This is her first season in the program after transferring from North Carolina.
What's Next?
The Horned Frogs will play their 2020 home opener in the new home for TCU Volleyball, the Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena, on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2020. The match will begin at 5 p.m. Limited tickets will be made available for purchase next week.
