STILLWATER, Okla. – After trailing by eight points, the TCU equestrian program earned six in a furious comeback, but fell just short of No. 3 Oklahoma State, 13-7, Saturday morning in Totusek Arena at the Big 12 Championship.
Head Western Coach Melissa Dukes
"It was pretty awesome coming back like that. We have to keep in mind that it is just a horse show, and yeah, we kind of had a tough day, but everybody had strong rides. We made a few little mistakes which we can tighten up before nationals. All in all, I'm just super proud of everybody. They rallied and came back strong today and had some great rides. I couldn't be more proud of these ladies and their attitudes."
Director of Equestrian Haley Schoolfield
"We deserve to be a part of the national team competition. We deserve to be in because of our strength of schedule. All of our losses have been to teams in the top six. We are competitive, we are young. We had a lot of firsts this weekend, half of our riders are at their first Big 12 Championship and, of course, NCEAs will be their first national championship. We know that they are talented, competitive and we know that we will be a contender at nationals."
