Horned Frogs Ready for Big 12 Championship

STILLWATER, Okla. – Moving on to postseason play, the TCU equestrian program takes on the Big 12 Championship, hosted by Oklahoma State at Totusek Arena. The Frogs will face off against Baylor in the first round of the championship tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. TCU will then take on Oklahoma State competing in Reining and Flat tomorrow afternoon. They will conclude the rest of that meet Saturday morning.

Scouting the Frogs
The Frogs ended the year on a high note, taking down then No. 3 SMU 13-7, including a 9-1 win in the Western discipline. The Frogs have won a total of 45 Most Outstanding Performer honors this season. TCU competed well against both Big 12 schools in regular season play, losing by an overall score margin of less than four against Baylor, and a season series split against Oklahoma State.
Scouting the Cowgirls
Oklahoma State comes into the Big 12 Championship as one of the hottest teams in the country. The Cowgirls are winners in their last five meets and six of their last seven. Hannah Mitchell (Reining) and Sarah Miller (Horsemanship) were both awarded Rider of the Month honors by the National Collegiate Equestrian Association in March. Another name to look for is Stephanie Helsen who is 8-1 in her last nine contests.
Scouting the Bears
Baylor enters the contest as the regular season Big 12 champion. The Bears are 3-3 in the spring season and 7-4 overall. The Bears are four-time winners of the Big 12 Championship and are currently ranked No. 4 in the NCEA poll. Baylor has had seven of its meets this year decided by three points or less and it is 3-4 in such meets.
