Isola, Oviedo and Watson homer for the Frogs
FORT WORTH – No. 20 TCU scored early and often en route to a 16-4 victory on Saturday evening at Lupton Stadium. Adam Oviedo put together a career-day at the plate with three hits, 4 RBIs and his first career home run.
The Rundown
TCU put up a five spot in the first inning and never looked back. Austin Henry picked up where he left off Friday with a two-run single to open up the scoring. Adam Oviedo hit a sacrifice fly and Andrew Keefer delivered a two-out, two-run single for a 5-0 lead.
Josh Watson's lead-off home run in the second extended the lead to 6-0.
Eastern Michigan pulled within three picking up two runs in the third and one in the fourth. The Eagles were threatening for more in the second, but Jake Eissler (3-1) retired two in a row with runners on the corners to keep the Frogs comfortably in front.
Alex Isola's two-run blast in the fourth extended the TCU advantage to 8-3. Bobby Goodloe got in on the action with an RBI-single in the fifth for a 9-3 lead. Eastern Michigan's Jeff Timko hit a solo home run in the sixth to get the Eagles back within five, 9-4.
TCU kept the foot on the gas, scoring seven times in its final three at-bats. Oviedo hit a three-run bomb to left and Isola picked up his third RBI in the game with a two-out single for a 13-4 lead after six innings. Conner Shepherd drove in the lone run in the seventh with a sacrifice fly. In the eighth, Dean Frew worked a bases-loaded walk and Brad Czerniejewski delivered the Frogs' third sacrifice fly of the game to account for the final score.
Jake Eissler (3-1) made his second start this season and went six innings. He allowed four runs on seven hits and struck out six. Augie Mihlbauer, Spencer Arrighetti and Dawson Barr combined to throw three shutout innings out of the bullpen. The trio allowed just two hits and registered five strikeouts.

21 – TCU tallied 20+ hits in a game for the second time this season. The 21 hits matches the output against Stephen F. Austin on March 5. It's the first time in a season the Frogs have tallied a pair of 20-hit games since the 2012 campaign.
