DeVencenty sets career high in Horsemanship
BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. – In its final meet of the East Coast trip, the TCU equestrian team fell to the fourth-ranked South Carolina Gamecocks, 13-5, Saturday morning.
Director of Equestrian Haley Schoolfield
"South Carolina was the better team today and we congratulate them on the win. We had some big scores and strong rides, especially on the Western side. We also had errors in places that opened the door for our opponent. We will work on cleaning that up before we head to South Dakota next week.
The Rundown
The morning kicked off with Equitation over Fences. The Horned Frogs did not earn a point in Fences but Wynne Weatherly rode to a tie with a score of 83 on Joe.
The performances in Horsemanship were exceptional on both sides, with six of the scores coming in at over 77.5, including three from each team. Josie Mootz claimed one of the two points TCU earned, winning 78-76.5 on Amos. Natalia DeVencenty also put up a 78 but was bested by USC's Quinn Brandt, who earned the Most Outstanding Performer, by a half point. Cydney Benes picked up the other point for the Horned Frogs with a 75.5-68.5 win on Peaches.
In Equitation on the Flat, Wynne Weatherly earned the only point for the Horned Frogs with a 71-70 win on Tattoo. Jacey Albaugh was the high scorer for the Horned Frogs earning a 72.
TCU tied with the Gamecocks in Reining at two points apiece. Carly Lombard was the high scorer for the Frogs, winning 72.5-72 on Sparky. Claire Dittrich earned the other point for the Frogs in Reining with a 69-67.5 decision on Wrangler.
