BROOKINGS, S.D. – After spending last weekend on the East Coast, the TCU equestrian program will head for cooler weather as it travels to South Dakota for matchups with South Dakota State and Minnesota-Crookston on Friday and Saturday.
Director of Equestrian Haley Schoolfield
"We worked hard on our mental preparation this week and we expect to see that put in to play this week. Last week we had a few student-athletes home sick and they have since fully recovered. We have a few more competitive opportunities this weekend which allowed us to travel a few extra which is a great opportunity."
Scouting the Frogs
TCU looks to put together a similar lineup that has been seen in the past against South Dakota State in English. On the Western side, Josie Ferrante is tabbed to make her spring season debut. The Frogs are also projected to send Anna Hauter into the horsemanship ring after traveling but not competing at South Carolina.
To face Minnesota-Crookston, Niki Barnes and Lily Geelan are scheduled to compete in English. MG Reed is slated to ride in Reining and Skylar Smith and Bella Andrews will compete for the third consecutive meet.
Scouting the Jackrabbits
South Dakota State comes into the meet 1-4 on the season with its only victory coming against Sweet Briar, 6-3. This meet will also mark the second home regular-season home meet for the Jackrabbits and will be their final one as SDSU will be honoring its seniors Friday.
Scouting the Golden Eagles
Saturday's meet will be the first time since Dec. 2 that the Western team will see action. Minnesota-Crookston faced Wisconsin-River Falls in that meet. The Golden Eagles are also coming off their first home meet of the season in the English discipline.
Series History
The Horned Frogs lead the all-time series, 5-3, over South Dakota State. TCU has won its last two meets against the Jackrabbits but lost its last contest in Brookings, 11-7, on Feb. 26, 2016. Saturday's meet against Minnesota-Crookston will be the first-ever meeting between the Horned Frogs and the Golden Eagles.
