Frogs begin play on Thursday
FORT WORTH, Texas – TCU will open its men's golf spring season on Thursday with the 28th annual Amer Ari Invitational in Waikoloa, Hawai'i.
The Horned Frogs currently boast the nation's toughest schedule, according to Golfweek.com, and will face more challenging competition on the big island. Five of the 18 teams competing are ranked in the top 16 including No. 1 Oklahoma State and No. 2 Georgia Tech.
TCU will go with the lineup of Alejandro Aguilera, Pierre Mazier, Stefano Mazzoli, David Ravetto and Hayden Springer. Freshman Justin Gums will make his collegiate debut and compete as an individual.
The 54-hole tournament will begin Thursday and run through Saturday with an 11:30 a.m. CT shotgun start each day.

Justin Gums (Freshman – Lodi, Calif.) – Making collegiate debut… finished tied for 16th at the California Sate Golf Championship last spring… Won three-time winner of the junior tour of Northern California.
Pierre Mazier (Senior – Saint-Raphael, France) – Coming off a season-best 6-over-222 at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate… Finished with a scoring average of 73.24 last season.
Stefano Mazzoli (Senior – Montorfano, Italy) – Played in two of the four meets in the fall… Finished tied for fifth at the Nike Golf Collegiate Invitational at 2-under 208… Represented his home country at the World Amateur in Ireland in early September… Was a PING Honorable Mention All-American last season, the 21st in TCU men's golf history… Earned All-Big 12 Honors last year… Scoring average of -0.68 (70.82) last season ranked as the fifth-best in school history.
