ABOUT THE GAME
• TCU closes its stretch of five out of seven games on the road when it travels to Norman to face Oklahoma on Saturday at 7 p.m.
• A win would make the Horned Frogs bowl eligible for the 17th time in Gary Patterson's 19 seasons as head coach.
• Four of the Horned Frogs' five losses this season have been by seven points or less.
• TCU's 41 road wins since 2009 are tied for third nationally. The Horned Frogs are 41-18 (.695) in that stretch.
• TCU is No. 1 in the Big 12 in total defense (328.8 yards per game) while ranking in a tie for second in the nation with five true freshmen who have started on that side of the ball.
• With wins over Texas, Texas Tech and Kansas, TCU is looking to continue a trend of all its Big 12 victories this season coming over teams it lost to last year.
• Dating back to a 37-33 home win over No. 3 Oklahoma in 2014, TCU is 5-6 in its last 11 games versus top-10 ranked teams.
SERIES HISTORY
• Oklahoma holds a 14-5 series lead over TCU.
• The Horned Frogs are 3-5 versus the Sooners in Norman, 2-7 in Fort Worth, 0-1 in Oklahoma City and 0-1 in Arlington (2017 Big 12 Championship Game).
• The first game in the series was a 34-19 Sooners' victory in Oklahoma City in 1944.
• TCU's 17-10 win at No. 5 Oklahoma in the 2005 season opener was its first victory over an opponent ranked that high since a 6-0 decision at No. 1 Texas in 1961. The 10 points by OU marked its fewest in a home game under former head coach Bob Stoops.
• Before games the last two seasons, the first five meetings (2012-16) between TCU and Oklahoma as Big 12 rivals saw each contest decided by seven points or less.
REMEMBER ME?
• TCU co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Sonny Cumbie and Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley were teammates during the spring and summer of 2003 at Texas Tech. Riley was then a student assistant/offense during Cumbie's final two seasons (2003-04) as a player for the Red Raiders.
• TCU outside receivers coach Malcolm Kelly was a two-time first-team All-Big 12 selection and a 2005 Freshman All-American at Oklahoma. He totaled 144 receptions for 2,285 yards and 21 touchdowns in just three seasons. When he left Norman, Kelly ranked second all-time at Oklahoma with his 21 touchdown catches and nine career 100-yard receiving games. He tied a school record with 11 receptions as a sophomore versus Texas Tech in 2006.
