TCU swimming and diving travels to the West Coast
MALIBU, Calif. — TCU's swimming and diving team is West Coast bound this weekend for the Malibu Classic.
Meet Day Information
Date: Oct. 11-12, 2019
Diving: Fri.- 10:00 a.m., Sat.- 9 a.m.
Swimming: Fri.- 4:30 p.m., Sat.- 11 a.m.
Location: Malibu, Calif.
Venue: Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool
TCU at the Malibu Classic
This is TCU's first time competing in the Malibu Classic at Pepperdine.
Schools competing:
Division 1: California Baptist, Pepperdine, TCU
Division 2: Azusa Pacific (women), Biola (men), Dixie State (women)
Division 3: Cal Lutheran, Occidental
NAIA: Masters, Westmound
Scoring
Division 1 teams will be scored as one meet and Division 2 and 3 as another meet. Each event will score 8 competitors per event. Only 3 individuals and 2 relays per school will score. Swimmers may compete in seven total events during the two days, with no more than two individual events per day.
Championship diving events on both 1- and 3-meter boards will be held using the six optional dive format.
Last Time Out
At the TYR Fall Classic in Miami, TCU's women placed fourth with 389 points and the men finished sixth with 357 points.
Dusan Babic won two individual events. The freshman won the men's 200 IM "B" heat with a 1:53.64 and the 200 Free "B" final (49.68).
Claire Banic swam a 24.03 en route to taking the 50 free "B" final.
Both Izzy Ashdown and Faith Harms-Zacharias made their first NCAA Zone qualifying scores in 1-meter diving. Ashdown placed third in the "A" final with a 268.40. Harms-Zacharias' 267.20 put her in second place for the "B" final.
