Fisher’s Career Best Leads Frogs

CARMEL, Calif. – Senior Triston Fisher shot a career-best 7-under 209 over three rounds at The Carmel Cup to lead the TCU men's golf team.
The Southlake, Texas native shot 1-under 71 Sunday at Pebble Beach and had just one bogey to finish tied for 11th place. Fisher's previous career best was 6-under 210 at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate. Fisher is three weeks removed from playing in the U.S. Amateur, also at Pebble Beach.
Freshman Alejandro Aguilera shot 5-under 67 from for the second consecutive round and finished 6-under 210 for the tournament. He had the biggest move up the leaderboard on the day as he jumped up 15 spots to finish tied for 13th. The newcomer from Madrid, Spain had five birdies on the front nine and led the Frogs with 15 birdies over the three rounds.
Senior Turner MacLean shot 1-over 73 on Sunday to finish tied for 19th at 4-under 213. Senior David Ravetto tied for 22nd place to finish finished right behind MacLean after shooting 1-under 71 for the round and 3-under 213 for the tournament.
Senior Hayden Springer had his best round of the weekend Sunday, as he shot 2-under 70. He shot 3-over 219 and finished 37th.
As a team, TCU had its best performance of the weekend shooting 8-under 352. The Frogs finished in fifth place, five strokes better than No. 5 ranked Vanderbilt and 13 strokes better than No. 15 Texas Tech. No. 3 Oklahoma won the tournament at 46-under 1,034. Oklahoma State's Matthew Wolf was the top individual at 17-under 199.
The Frogs were without All-American Stefano Mazzoli this weekend. Mazzoli will represent Italy at the World Amateur in Dublin, Ireland beginning on Sept. 5.
TCU will next be in action Sept. 30 – Oct. 2 at the Nike Collegiate Invitational held at the Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth. The 15-team field will be made up of nine teams in the Bushnell/Golfweek Preseason Coaches Poll. Admission is free to the event.
