
Horned Frogs Drop Tough Battle

TCU dropped a 3-2 heartbreaker to Cincinnati on Saturday night.
FORT COLLINS, Colo. (September 2, 2018) – Despite career-high numbers from multiple players, the TCU volleyball team dropped a heart breaking 3-2 (25-23, 21-25, 17-25, 25-17, 16-14) decision to Cincinnati on Saturday night in the second match of the Colorado State Tournament inside Moby Arena in Fort Collins, Colo.
Every point was a battle for the Horned Frogs (4-2) and the Bearcats (4-1) with TCU ultimately getting the 2-1 lead in the match after bouncing back from a first set loss. Cincinnati did not back down as they used a 10-2 run at the end of the fourth set to send the match to five. The final set had seven lead changes and the score tied on nine occasions, with TCU using an error by Cincinnati and then a Tori Dilfer ace to see match point at 14-13. Costly errors down the stretch proved to be the difference as three in a row by the Frogs gave the Bearcats the set and the match.
Freshman élan McCall was nearly unstoppable and racked numerous career-highs including 28 kills and seven total blocks. The Leander, Texas native also finished with a .306 hitting clip and eight digs. Anna Walsh reached the double-digit mark for the fifth time this season with 11 in the match to go along with six blocks. Tori Dilfer recorded her third double-double of the season with 45 assists and 11 digs to go along with a career-high six service aces. Defensively, three players picked up double-digit digs led by Lexi MacLean at 17 followed by Dani Dennison with 14.
