
TCU Suffers Loss at CSU

The Horned Frogs fought hard but came up short to the host Rams on Sunday.
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Another career-high match from freshman élan McCall was not enough as the TCU volleyball team suffered a 3-1 (25-21, 25-15, 15-25, 25-20) loss to No. 25 Colorado State to end action at the Colorado State Tournament inside Moby Arena in Fort Collins, Colo., on Sunday afternoon.
The Horned Frogs (4-3) found themselves down early to the Rams (4-2) after dropping the first two sets but used a balanced offense as well as stout defense at the net to storm back after the break for the 25-15 win in the third set. A battle for points ensued in the fourth set but after a 20-20 tie, Colorado State went on a 5-0 run to finish off the match and take it in four.
McCall, who earned All-Tournament team honors for the second straight week, had another career match with 31 kills and a .349 hitting clip. The Leander, Texas native also picked up 13 digs to mark the second double-double of her career. Lexi MacLean and Dani Dennison both picked up double-digit digs for the second straight match with 11 and 10, respectively. Fellow freshman Katie Clark had a career-high blocking match with 6.0 total to go along with four kills.

31 – élan McCall set a new career-high with 31 kills and became the first TCU volleyball player to record at least 30 kills in a match since Amy Atamanczuk put down 30 kills against Cal State Fullerton on September 16, 2000.
