TCU Finishes 8th at Big 12

TULSA, Okla. -- In cold, rainy conditions, it was Turner MacLean that shined for the TCU men's golf team Wednesday on the final day of the Big 12 Championship.
TCU teed off with Baylor at 8 a.m. with the temperature at 50 degrees and a steady rainfall. Those conditions continued throughout all 18 holes, making play tougher than normal at Southern Hills Country Club.
The Horned Frogs finished eighth at 55-over par, four strokes back of No. 12-ranked Texas Tech (+51). No. 3 Oklahoma won the tournament at 19-over par. The 10-team field featured five of the nation's top 14 teams.
MacLean had the Horned Frogs' best round of the day, 2-over 72. The Fort Worth native finished 9-over 289 to place tied for 14th, to lead TCU. Junior David Ravetto also finished just over par at 3-over 73. He shot 12-over 292 for the tournament and finished tied for 23rd.
Junior Stefano Mazzoli, who began the day tied for 11th, shot 8-over 78 and fell to 27th place.
Jeremy Gandon (Kansas State), Doug Ghim (Texas), Grant Hirschman (Oklahoma) and Kristoffer Ventura (Oklahoma State) were co-Big 12 champions as they all shot 3-over 283 for the tournament.
TCU is in line to receive its 29th-straight NCAA regional bid. The announcement will come May 2 and will be first publicized on Golf Channel at 4:30 p.m. TCU could play at any of the eight regional sites. The three regional rounds will take place May 14-16.
