
TCU in Fourth after Round 1

STOCKTON, Calif. -- Three Horned Frogs shot under par as the TCU men's golf team finished the first round of the NCAA Regional in fourth place Monday in Stockton, Calif.
Under sunny skies and a steady 10-15 mph wind, juniors Pierre Mazier, David Ravetto and Hayden Springer all shot under par at The Reserve at Spanos Park. Ravetto and Springer were 2-under 70 and finished tied for 13th. Mazier shot 1-under 71 and tied for 19th.
Junior Stefano Mazzoli shot even par and tied for 19th. Junior Turner MacLean shot 3-over 75 and finished tied for 52nd.
Ryan Han (UC Davis), Daniel Sutton (Kansas) and Brandon Wu (Stanford) are tied for first at 5-under 67.
Of the eight eagles carded in the 75-person field, two were from TCU. Mazier eagled on the par 5 No. 6 hole and MacLean did it on the par 5 No. 16 hole.
With the top five teams advancing to the NCAA Championships, May 25-30 in Stillwater, Okla., the Horned Frogs started in the right direction after shooting 5-under 283. Iowa State leads at 10-under followed by Kansas (-7) and No. 7 Alabama (-6). TCU is the No. 6 seed in the Stockton Regional.
