
TCU Ends Season With Another Semifinal

WACO, Texas -- No. 6 TCU equestrian completed its season on Friday with competition in two event brackets at the NCEA National Championship at the Extraco Events Center.
The Frogs beat Oklahoma State in the Horsemanship quarterfinal, advancing to the semifinal against Georgia. TCU fell to the Bulldogs in that semifinal and also fell to Georgia in the Equitation Over Fences quarterfinal earlier in the day.
Accolades Awarded
The day ended on a high note as TCU sophomore Laska Anderson earned the NCEA Elite Equestrian award, an honor that is given to the student-athlete with the highest GPA among the four teams that competed in the team semifinals. The double major in English and History has a 4.0 GPA.
Two TCU equestrian alumni, Kirstie Frydenlund Jones and Milana Trimino Brown, were honored as NCEA Distinguished Alumni. Kirstie had her first daughter, Sadie, in October and Milana had her first daughter, Ella, in December. Kirstie has her own equine photography business and lives in Dallas. Milana works for college ministry organization StuMo at the University of Texas at Austin and has her photography business as well.
Horsemanship Quarterfinal -- TCU 3, Oklahoma State 1
TCU, the No. 5 seed in the Horsemanship bracket, opened its afternoon with a 3-1 win over Oklahoma State, the No. 4 seed. Josie Mootz grabbed the Frogs' first point with a 148.5-point ride on Zip. Anderson also had a 148.5-point for the Frogs, doing so on Dede and winning TCU's second point. Cydney Benes closed out the match for the Frogs with a 148 on Murphy.
Horsemanship Semifinal -- Georgia 3, TCU 0
The Frogs saw their NCEA National Championship run come to an end with a 3-0 loss to Georgia, the No. 1 seed in the Horsemanship bracket, on Friday evening. Anderson had the Frogs' highest scoring ride of the day with a 152 on Zip, but Georgia's Madison Anger also posted a 152. Mootz, Benes and Jamie Cook all upped their scores from the quarterfinal with rides of 151, 149.5 and 146, respectively, but the Bulldogs had slightly better rides to grab the win.
Fences Quarterfinal -- Georgia 3, TCU 1
TCU's day started with the Fences quarterfinals as the No. 7 seeded Frogs dropped a 3-1 contest to No. 2 Georgia. Alex Beneson won the Frogs' lone point with a ride of 166 on Ginger. Jayme Omand had the Frogs' highest scoring ride of the event with a 167 on Wyatt, but was topped by Georgia's Meredith Darst and her 176-point ride.
