
Rybakov Named Big 12 POW

FORT WORTH, Texas – After playing at the top of the lineup and leading the TCU men's tennis team to three straight victories over top-20 ranked opponents, junior Alex Rybakov was named Big 12 Player of the Week as announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon.
This marks the second Big 12 weekly honor in the Coral Springs, Fla., native's career and the first this season.
Rybakov went 2-0 in singles with wins over No. 7 Alfredo Perez of No. 12 Florida and No. 38 Jackie Tang of No. 9 Columbia, while almost securing a win over No. 25 Nicolas Alvarez of No. 17 Duke before the match was called. The junior now ranked No. 12 in singles, improved to 14-3 overall this past week, 8-1 at the No. 1 position, 7-1 against ranked opponents and is currently riding a seven-match winning streak.
Rybakov paired up with Guillermo Nuñez in doubles as they picked up a victory in all three matches to lead TCU to the doubles point against all opponents. The now No. 21 ranked pair have seven wins this season and scored a 6-2 win over the No. 12 ranked pair from Florida for their second ranked victory this season.
TCU is currently riding a four-match winning streak with three of the wins coming over top-20 ranked opponents and victories in seven of the last eight matches. The team will take on No. 6 Texas A&M tonight at 6 p.m., at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center in College Station, Texas.
