COLLEGE STATION, Texas – TCU track and field opened the indoor campaign on Saturday at the Reveille Invitational, where several athletes started their seasons with strong performances.
POLE VAULT
Three of TCU's pole vaulters worked their way into the school history books, led by Adam McAdoo. McAdoo, who suffered an injury that kept him out of competition for the majority of the indoor season and the entire outdoor season a year ago, set the indoor school record in the men's pole vault with a mark of 4.77m (15-7.75). Saturday was McAdoo's first competition since the New Mexico Team Invitational in January earlier this year.
In the women's pole vault, Kendahl Shue and freshman newcomer Tysen Townsend both matched the TCU indoor record of 3.72m (12-2.5) and finished second in the meet.
RELAYS
In the opening meet of the season, TCU's women's 4x400 already surpassed the team's best mark from last year's indoor season. Kayla Heard, Lily Beckford, Kennedy Crawford, and Kiana Banks finished in 3:40.79 and placed third.
On the men's side, TCU's mile relay group of Glenn Bender, Tinotenda Matiyenga, Blake Hennesay, and Derrick Mokaleng finished second with a time of 3:10.94.
Tarrick Brock made his TCU debut on Saturday and finished third in the men's 200m and fifth in the 60m. Also making her debut in purple, Brooklin Klopf found her way into the top 10 in TCU history for the indoor shot put with a throw of 13.99m (45-10.75).
COACH'S THOUGHTS
"Our vaulters and mile relays competed well," head track and field coach Darryl Anderson said. "All in all, we had a productive fall although the weather has been trying. We take exams next week, then break until January 14th."
UP NEXT
TCU will return to action in the new year at the Texas A&M Quadrangular, scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 19, in College Station.
