TCU has four honorees
FORT WORTH – Messiah Bright leads TCU's four Big 12 All-Conference selections as she was tabbed the Co-Big 12 Freshman of the Year. She becomes the first-ever TCU soccer athlete to earn a Player of the Year award. Also earning recognition from the league were Yazmeen Ryan, Karitas Tomasdottir and Maddy Warren.
Ryan was named first-team all-conference, giving TCU a first-team representative each of the last four years. Tomasdottir and Bright earned a spot on the second team, while Maddy Warren joined Bright on the All-Freshman squad.
Bright made history as the first Horned Frog to win a share of Freshman of the Year. The forward ranks third on the team in goals (five) and is tied for the team lead in game-winning goals (three). Three of her five goals this season have come in conference play. She scored two of TCU's five game-winning goals in league action.
Ryan paced the team with nine points in Big 12 play. She tallied a trio of goals and contributed three assists. Of her three tallies, two stood up as game-winning goals. On the season, Ryan, who has started 11 of 15 games played, has registered four goals (three of which are game-winners) and posted three assists for 11 points.
Tomasdottir has started all 19 games this season and ranks third on the team with 1,506 minutes played. She has been on the field for the entirety of seven matches. The senior has pitched in with three assists while helping TCU to a school-record 10 shutouts on the season.
Warren is on pace to be the first freshman since Emma Heckendorn in 2014 to lead the team in scoring. She is tied for the team lead with six goals. Her four assists on the season are also tops on the team for a total of 16 points.
