TCU will shoot against Ga. Southern for the first time
FORT WORTH – The Horned Frogs will hit the road and travel to Charleston, S.C. after having a week off from competition. They are set to shoot against Georgia Southern and The Citadel men's and women's squads.
The Citadel is coming off a 4,585-4,525 loss to Alabama Birmingham while Georgia Southern hasn't shot a match since its Oct. 6 defeat at Murray St. (4,694-4,530).
Heading into this weekend's matchup, TCU boasts the fourth highest aggregate average in the nation at 4,693. The Citadel has a season average of 4,421, which ranks 22nd in the NCAA, followed by Georgia Southern with an average of 4,528 (23rd). The Frogs also own the fifth highest average mark in smallbore (2,325) and fourth in air rifle (2,372.5).
The Frogs feature two of the top nine aggregate shooters in the NCAA. Senior Rachel Garner has the third best average mark (1,182) and two of the top three individual aggregate performances (1,186) in the NCAA this season. Junior Casey Lutz ranks ninth in the nation with an average score of 1,175.
In air rifle, TCU boasts two of the top five average shooters in the country. Garner leads the Frogs and sits in fourth with a 596.5 average. Lutz's 596.3 is fifth nationally. Georgia Southern is led by Rosemary Kramer who sits 15th nationally with an average of 593.
The Horned Frogs also own the three of the top twelve shooters in smallbore. Garner's average score of 585.7 ranks fifth in the NCAA. Freshman Kristen Hemphill has the 10th best average in the nation (583). Elizabeth Marsh rounds out the top twelve with a 582.3 average. The Citadel is paced by Allison Auten (564.667).
TCU faced off against The Citadel last season. The Frogs topped the Bulldogs by a score of 4,718-4,509. This will be the Frogs first matchup with Georgia Southern.
