Rifle Shoots Strong Score at The Citadel

The Frogs shoot a program-best 2,384 in air rifle.
FORT WORTH – The No. 4 TCU Horned Frogs shot a score of 4,708 in their victory over The Citadel and Georgia Southern.
TCU fired a 2,324 in smallbore and a 2,384 in air rifle. The Frogs performance in air rifle was a new program record, topping their mark from last season's PRC Championships.
The Frogs boasted eight of the top nine aggregate scorers. Rachel Garner shot the top aggregate score of 1,185. Sophomore Elizabeth Marsh finished second with an aggregate of 1,178. Kristen Hemphill and Casey Lutz tied for fourth with scores of 1,1170 while Catherine Miller (1,163) and Angeline Henry (1,160) rounded out the scoring for the Frogs counters.
In smallbore, TCU led field with the top three shooters. Garner topped the field shooting a season-high score of 589. Marsh followed with a 582 and Hemphill rounded out the top three with a 579. Counters Lutz and Miller finished in sixth and seventh, respectively with scores of 574.
The Horned Frogs dominated the field in air rifle with four scores of 596. Garner and Lutz shot in the first relay, both posting scores of 596. Marsh also shot a season-high mark of 596 in the first relay. Henry, a freshman, closed out the day with a career-high score of 596 to help lead the Frogs to the new team record. Hemphill wrapped up the scoring for the counters with a 591.
Not factoring into the team score, junior Emily Haag shot a season-high aggregate score of 1,149 (569 in smallbore and 580 in air rifle), good for ninth place overall. Her mark in smallbore was also a season-high.
The Citadel shot a score of 4,529 (2,239 in smallbore and 2,290 in air rifle). The Bulldogs were led by Allison Auten in smallbore (563) and Isabelle Blystone in air rifle (583). While Georgia Southern finished with a score of 4,566 (2,235 in smallbore and 2,331 in air rifle). The Eagles were paced by Rosemary Kramer who finished with the top mark in air rifle (597) and third overall with a 1,174 aggregate.
The Horned Frogs next travel to Lexington, Va. where they will take on VMI on October 27th.
