Barrett One-Back After Three Rounds

HUTCHINSON, Kan. -- TCU senior Chelso Barrett will begin the final round of the Big 12 Men's Golf Championship one-shot out of first place.
The Keene, N.H. native shot 2-under 68 in the second round, which tied a season-low, and 1-over 71 in the third round. Barrett finished Tuesday at Prairie Dunes Country Club tied for third place at 6-over 216. He trails Texas' Scottie Scheffler and Oklahoma's Brad Dalke, who are 5-over 215.
After Monday's windy conditions forced play to be suspended, Tuesday's weather fared much better. The Frogs had sunny skies and 70 degree temperatures in the second round, which helped lower the scores. Cooler temperatures prevailed in the third round and the Frogs finished play in a light sprinkle.
Sophomore Pierre Mazier (France) used an eagle on the par 5 17th hole to shoot 3-over 73 for the third round. That equaled his total in the second round and finished in a tie for 22nd place at 14-over 224.
The third round was the best round for sophomore Stefano Mazzoli (Italy). He shot 6-over 76 and is tied for 43rd 26-over 236. Sophomore Triston Fisher (Southlake, Texas) also had his best effort in the third round at 1-over 71 and is also tied for 43rd at 26-over 236. Sophomore Turner MacLean (Fort Worth) shot 7-over 70 in the second round and is in 49th place at 32-over 245.
TCU is tied with Tuesday's playing partner, Kansas State, for eighth at 67-over 907.

- Fisher and Barrett rank fifth and sixth, respectively, in par 3 average.
- Mazier's eagle was one of seven for the tournament, all by different individuals.
- Barrett leads the Frogs and ranks seventh overall with eight birdies. His 32 pars rank 10th.
- Barrett's 68 tied a season low. He had a 68 in the opening round of the Nike Golf Collegiate Invitational on Oct. 2.
- Barrett is tied for third place with Oklahoma State's Zach Bauchou.
- TCU's last conference champion was in 2014 when Julien Brun won the Big 12.
- The top 10 individuals at the end of the championships will be named Big 12 All-Tournament.
