FORT WORTH, Texas – TCU women's basketball junior AJ Alix has been voted All-Big 12 Honorable Mention by the league's head coaches, the conference office announced on Wednesday.
Alix leads the Frogs in scoring at 13.3 points per game, but in Big 12 play is averaging 15.3 per game to rank sixth in the league. She has scored in double figures 20 times this season, including in eight of the last nine games.
The Houston native has posted nine 20-point games this season, including a stretch of four straight in early February, making her the first Frog with four straight since Sandora Irvin did so in January 2005.
One the Big 12's top 3-point threats, Alix has made 69 3-pointers this season, the third most in the league, but with fewer attempts than both players ahead of her. Alix is shooting 40.4 percent from long range this season. With a season still to play, Alix's 151 career 3-pointers are already eighth in TCU history.
Alix also leads the Frogs with 4.5 assists per game, ranking fifth in the Big 12. Her 130 assists are currently the eighth most in a single season in TCU history. She has recorded five assists in 12 games this season.
The All-Big 12 Honorable Mention honor is the second straight for Alix. She joins Zahna Medley as the only Frogs with multiple All-Big 12 honors in their career.
Alix and the Frogs return to the court on Friday when they take on Texas Tech in the first round of the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championships at Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. on Fox College Sports.
