
TCU Women Fall at No. 22 Kansas State

MANHATTAN, Kansas - Minus a five-minute stretch in the third quarter, TCU and No. 22 Kansas State were equal, but the Wildcats owned that five minutes and beat the Frogs, 74-63, at Bramlage Coliseum on Wednesday night.
The teams were tied at halftime, but Kansas State (15-4, 5-2) opened the third quarter with five 3-pointers in five minutes and the hole was too big for TCU (9-9, 1-6) to climb out of. TCU got within five points twice in the fourth quarter, including as late as with 2:29 remaining, but hit just two shots from the floor after that while the Wildcats hit eight free throws to ice the game.
Amy Okonkwo led the Frogs with 13 points with Toree Thompson adding 12 and Amber Ramirez finishing with 11. TCU, however, hit just 30 percent (19-of-63) from the floor on the night with just 27 percent (6-of-22) from deep.
Breanna Lewis led Kansas State with 21 points on 9-of-11 shooting. She was 6-of-6 in the first half to keep the Wildcats in the game as her teammates hit just 4-of-19. Kindred Wesemann added 18 points, including 5-of-11 from deep with all five makes coming in the second half.
Defining Moments
After an even first half, Kansas State caught fire from long range early in the third quarter. The Wildcats hit 5-of-6 from deep to start the half, four from Wesemann, all in the first five minutes.
Those 3-pointers were part of a 17-3 run to open the third quarter for Kansas State, building a 44-30 lead for the Wildcats. It that span, TCU hit just 1-of-7 shots.
The Frogs would get within five, 62-57, with under three minutes to go on Jada Butts free throws, but went nearly four minutes without a field goal late in the fourth and couldn't get any closer.
Stat of the Game
4 - All four of TCU's road games in Big 12 play have been against ranked teams. The Frogs have played at No. 24 Oklahoma, No. 15 Texas and No. 2 Baylor, in addition to Wednesday's night contest at No. 22 Kansas State.
