FORT WORTH, Texas – Every member of the TCU women's tennis team has returned home for the summer and has been hard a work preparing for the upcoming season and enjoying time with friends and family. Each week, we will take a look at what a different member of the team has been up to and next up is senior Caroline Wegner.
Wegner returned to her hometown of Hagen, Germany and was able to go to a German ATP professional tournament with her mother – the Mercedes Cup. While at the tournament, she was able to meet up with volunteer assistant coach Christopher Williams who was coaching a player at the event. Wegner has also been busy helping her father at an exhibition for his company in Frankfurt where they showcased all the large cutting blades they manufacture and distribute for companies all over Europe and the United States. Wegner has not forgotten about tennis and has been training daily on the tennis courts this summer, as she practices on the red clay courts to prepare for her final season in Fort Worth.
TCU returns all but one letterwinner from the 2016 season that saw the Horned Frogs finish in a tie for second in the Big 12 Conference and advance to the second round of the NCAA Championship for the second straight season. An All-Big 12 Doubles selection, Wegner recorded 20 wins in singles action to go along 24 victories in doubles. Wegner rounded out the season by claiming a No. 36 doubles ranking in the final Oracle/ITA poll with partner Seda Arantekin
