TCU Wraps Up Day One at Drake Relays

DES MOINES -- The TCU men's and women's track and field teams qualified for four final events at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa in the prelims on Friday afternoon.
Senior Brianna McGhee won her heat in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.15. McGhee, who holds the nation's fifth-fastest time, will face off against the NCAA leader in Cindy Ofili of Michigan at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. One-hundredth of a second separated the two in the prelims.
The women's 4x100-meter relay team of junior Iphona-Clemence Paiement, sophomore Sabrina Moore, junior Judy Emeodi and freshman Kayla Heard clocked in at 45.64, giving them a spot in tomorrow's finals.
The men's 4x100-meter relay team also notched a final-qualifying time as junior Raymond Bozmans, senior Sam Watts, junior Malik Summers and senior Ronnie Baker crossed the finish line at 40.01. The Horned Frogs' effort was the fastest relay time of the day by a margin of 0.24 seconds.
Sophomore Sabrina Moore advanced to the finals after placing second in the 100-meter dash prelims with a wind-aided time of 11.59.
In the men's triple jump, sophomore Scotty Newton recorded a fourth-place mark of 51-7.75 (15.74m).
Senior Megan Smith took home sixth in the discus behind a mark of 163-4 (49.78m).
The women's 4x100-meter relay final will begin at 3:14 p.m. on Saturday with the men set to follow. The women's hammer throw will kick things off for the Frogs at 9 a.m.
