FORT WORTH – No. 7 TCU score five unanswered runs in its final two at-bats to take the series opener from USC with an 8-3 victory. The win stretches TCU's win streak to four games.
The Rundown
TCU found itself facing a 1-0 deficit after one inning. The Horned Frogs responded with a two-run second to take the lead. RBI ground outs from Dane Steinhagen and Austen Wade put the Frogs on top.
Wade doubled to open the fifth and scored two batters later on a ground out from Cam Warner to push the lead to two, 3-1.
USC answered in the seventh, tying the game on a two-out double from AJ Ramirez.
The tie didn't last long as the Frogs struck in the bottom of the frame. Ryan Merrill drew a lead-off walk and was standing on third with one out when Michael Landestoy lined a single into right field to put the Frogs on top.
Josh Watson and Elliott Barzilli hit back-to-back bombs to open the eighth inning, giving the Frogs some breathing room. With two on and one out, Landestoy again came through in the clutch with a two-run single to center.
Jared Janczak (2-1) earned the win in relief of Luken Baker, who allowed an unearned run on five hits in four innings of work.

Quotes of the Game
Head Coach Jim Schlossnagle
"I thought we competed really well and I thought their pitcher did an unbelievable job of competing. It was really impressive to watch him grind through the whole game because we couldn't find anybody to throw strikes. That was one of the uglier games we've pitched in a while. We certainly made pitches and made plays when we had to make them."
"Obviously, Michael Landestoy, who sits over here every game and is nothing but a great teammate, gets rewarded for it."
