Rifle Heads To UTEP Saturday

FORT WORTH – Fresh off its Patriot Rifle Conference championship, the TCU rifle team will hit the road for its final regular season match on Saturday at UTEP.
The Horned Frogs will be looking to close out its first undefeated season since the 2012-13 season. After Saturday's match, the squad will host the NCAA Qualifier in an effort to complete its bid for a 10th straight trip to the NCAA Tournament.
TCU has put together a balanced attack in both disciplines all season long. Four shooters (Hannah Black, Mindy Miles, Sally Li and Nicole Hankey) average 591 or better in air rifle. Miles took home the PRC Air Rifle individual title.
The same consistency is on display in smallbore as well with three shooters (Hannah Black, Rachel Garner and Sally Li) averaging scores of 580 or higher. Garner has been the most consistent this season firing at least a 580 in all 11 matches this season.
UTEP also took part in the championships last weekend, finishing sixth with a team score of 4,594. Senior Amy Bock was the team's best performer, qualifying for the smallbore final and ultimately finishing fourth. She added a 577 in air rifle to lead all Miners' shooters.
