Ko Leads TCU in First Round in Georgia

ALPHARETTA, Georgia – Freshman Jeong Weon Ko recorded a season-best 71 and TCU shot a 12-over 300 in round one at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate on Friday.
The Frogs sit in a tied for 15th place, but are within 10 shots of fourth place Texas, after playing their first round on the Golf Club of Georgia's Lakeside Course.
Ko is the lone Frog in the top 10 as he sits in a tie for ninth place at 1-under-par. He is just four shots off the lead, held by Jimmy Stanger of Virginia.
Round of the Day
Ko's day started with a bang as he eagled the par-5 first hole. He was at 3-under-par after the front nine, and remained at 3-under after 16 holes, but a double-bogey on No. 17 dropped hime down the leaderboard.
Other Notables
- The Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate field is one of the nation's toughest with 12 top-25 teams.
- Chelso Barrett recorded the Frogs second best round of the day with a 3-over 75. Coming into the tournament, six of Barrett's rounds this season had been par or better.
