FORT WORTH, Texas – TCU track and field rounded out the incoming class with six additions to the Frogfam: Jalen Miller, Fellan McGuigan, Nafissatou Boixel, Kayla Heard, Darrion Flowers and Alexandra Aitken.
"To start with, we added Fellan McGuigan from Ireland. He is an international hammer thrower who has thrown 234 feet, 8 inches. He has a history here with his brother being an SEC runner-up. We're excited about adding him to our team," said head coach Darryl Anderson.
Jalen Miller, from Tunica, Mississippi, transfers from Ole Miss after two stellar seasons in sprints. A five-time All-America honoree, Miller was the SEC Champion in the 60-meters last season and finished third at the NCAA Indoor Championships with a 6.54 in the same race that Ronnie Baker claimed the national title. During outdoors, Miller competed in the 100 and 200 meters and was a staple on the Rebel's 4x100 relay. He also garnered a personal-best time of 10.12 in the 100 meters at the SEC Outdoor Championships.
"Then on the women's side, we've got Nafissatou Boixel. She's a 20 foot, 6 inches long jumper from Paris, France. She'll do some sprinting for us and she has also triple jumped a little bit. She's a very good athlete and very polished in her technical things, so we're looking forward to adding her to our team," said Anderson.
Darrion Flowers, a sprinter from Arlington Sam Houston, joined the Horned Frogs and participated in the Junior Olympics this summer, finishing second in the 100 meters. He was a Texas District 3-5A champion in the 100-meter dash with a career-best time of 10.27.
Kayla Heard, a new addition from Jacksonville, Florida, ran on the mile relay team and finished second at the Junior Olympics. Heard finished second at the Florida State meet in the 400-meter event with a time of 54.56. She also recorded a 200-meter time of 24.25 at the Golden South Classic.
Alexandra Aitken, a native of Clinton, Ontario, finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles at the Pan-American Junior Championships in Edmonton. She was also a Canadian junior champion, clocking a time of 58.76 in the 400-meter hurdles.
"We had some good things happen this summer as far as people coming in and we're looking forward to adding to this group, which we feel like is a really good group on both sides," said Anderson.
