EUGENE, Oregon – Former TCU standout Whitney Gipson and current student-athlete Megan Smith put the final touches on TCU's weekend at the USATF Championships on Saturday afternoon at Hayward Field.
Gipson, a two-time NCAA Champion for the Horned Frogs, picked up an 11th place finish in the women's long jump. After fouling her first attempt, Gipson recorded a seasonal-best distance of 6.46m (21-2.25). The mark was the fourth-best among the first flight of competitors. Her final jump hit at 6.10m (20-0.25).
In the women's discus, Smith got on the board with her second attempt, notching a distance of 51.28m (168-3), her only mark of the day to finish 18th. Redshirting during the outdoor season, this was Smith's fifth meet competing unattached. She qualified for the USA Championships on April 11 after posting a personal-best of 57.09m (187-3). Smith, the school record holder, returns for her senior outdoor season looking to build off her mark this season.
