The Field
TCU will compete against six other universities, as well as a slew of unattached competitors on Saturday. Texas A&M, the top-ranked men's team and the No. 9 women's team, will travel to Fort Worth. Louisiana Tech, UT-Arlington, UT-Tyler, McNeese State and NW State will also compete at the Invitational.
Quotables from TCU Director of Track & Field Darryl Anderson
On the Horned Frog Invitational
"It's a great opportunity before the postseason begins. The next opportunity will be in Ames, Iowa, at the Big 12 Championships, so we're looking to get some things done this weekend. We're not going to be running everybody everywhere. It's going to be a low-key situation. It'll be the same way for Louisiana Tech and Texas A&M as well as we all prepare to put the finishing touches before the conference championships.
"I thought it would be a good idea to do this at home. Texas A&M and Louisiana Tech wanted to come over and we'll have a good amount of unattached competitors as well.
"Every team should be able to get done what they want to get done. It'll be a very relaxed environment and coaches will be able to coach their teams and we'll go from there. That's what we'll be looking for and as far as our kids are concerned, we just want to fine tune and look at a few things and make some final decisions on what we want to do as far as Big 12 and it's another opportunity for kids to get regional qualifying marks."
Last Time Out
Last Friday at the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational in Gainesville, Florida, junior Ronnie Baker finished first among collegiate competitors in the 100 meters behind a time of 10.11. The time was a personal-best under legal-wind conditions and was the top time in the event among NCAA competitors. Sophomore Kolby Listenbee followed closely behind in his first 100 of the season with a mark of 10.37. Also competing in his first 200-meter dash of the season, Listenbee brought in the top time among collegiate competitors with a personal-best of 20.79 seconds. Baker teamed up with seniors Lavon Collins and Joshua Washington and freshman Kevin McClanahan to power their way to a time of 3:05.40 in the men's 4x400 relay. The time was a seasonal-best for the Horned Frogs in the event and ranks fifth on the NCAA West Qualifying list. Sophomore Paola Miranda continued her solid season in the women's hammer throw, finishing second with her top toss coming in at 58.97m (193-6).
Into the Rankings
The TCU men's squad returned to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) computer rankings this week, checking in at No. 23. It's the first time since 2013 they've been ranked inside the top 25 during the outdoor season. The 2015 indoor campaign resulted in a seventh-place team finish for the men's team after scoring in all four events the Horned Frogs competed in at the NCAA Indoor Championships, including Ronnie Baker's 60-meter win.
Regionals Are Coming
With the NCAA West Preliminaries a little over a month away, the Horned Frogs sit 15 in the top 48 of individual events and two groups inside the top 24 among relays. Listed below are how the Horned Frogs stack up in each event:
Men's 100 Meters – Ronnie Baker, Sam Watts, Kolby Listenbee, Ramone Bailey, Raymond Bozmans
Women's 100 Meters – Iphona-Clemence Paiement
Men's 200 Meters – Kolby Listenbee, Sam Watts
Men's 400 Meters – Joshua Washington
Women's 400 Meters – Tiffany Terry

The Best of the West
The Horned Frogs have five student-athletes ranked in the top 48 in the 100-meter dash on the NCAA West Qualifying list. It's the most of any university and four of the five rank in the top 50 overall among both the West and East regions. Ronnie Baker leads the way with a time of 10.02, ranking fourth. Sam Watts and Kolby Listenbee, who have only competed in the event once this season, posted times of 10.32 and 10.37, respectively. Ramone Bailey and Raymond Bozmans follow closely behind at 10.43 and 10.45.
Who's Next?
TCU's rich history in the sprints division has produced seven athletes to have posted a time under 10 seconds in the 100-meter dash, the most of any university. The Horned Frogs look to bolster their lead on the rest of the pack this season, and almost added No. 8 with Baker's performance at the Texas Relays on March 28. Baker, the 2015 NCAA 60-meter Champion, recorded a wind-aided mark of 10.02 in the invitational section of the event, which was an all-conditions personal-best and was the fourth-best time in program history. Four other Horned Frogs who are on the doorstep of accomplishing the feat are sophomores Kolby Listenbee (10.12), Sam Watts (10.32) and Raymond Bozmans (10.42) and senior Ramone Bailey (10.43).
Knock Knock Knockin' on 38's Door
In only their second meet of the season, the men's 4x100 relay team posted a time of 39.15 seconds in Austin at the Texas Relays. It's the fastest time since the 2013 NCAA Outdoor Championships, when the Horned Frogs put up the same mark in the prelims to finish sixth and qualify for the finals. The mark moves them closer to TCU's all-time top 10 in the event, which starts at 38.80 set in 1991. The No. 1 time in TCU history is also the collegiate record, set in 1998, at a time of 38.04 seconds.
Thrice as Nice
The Horned Frogs have earned three victories in the men's long jump this season, all by different student-athletes. In the first outdoor meet of 2015, freshman Scotty Newton recorded the win at the rainy TCU Invitational. At the Texas Relays, senior Ramone Bailey flew to a victory with his top jump coming in at 7.39m (24-3). Last weekend at the Michael Johnson Classic, the reigning Big 12 Indoor Long Jump Champion Cameron Echols-Luper notched a mark of 7.44m (24-5) in his first outdoor meet of the year to grab TCU's third win in the event.
Etched In History
Miranda is the latest Horned Frog to rewrite the TCU record books, crushing the previous best in the women's hammer throw by over 18 feet. Her toss of 59.39m (194-10) topped Kelsey Samuels' mark set in 2013 53.85m (176-8) and earned her first at the TCU Invitational on March 19.
Ronnie Baker set the standard on the biggest state of the indoor season, at the NCAA Indoor Championships in the men's 60 meters with a time of 6.52 seconds. His NCAA championship time broke Kim Collins' record set on March 10, 2000, also in Fayetteville.
The first school record to fall in 2015 came in the women's distance medley relay at the Tyson Invitational. The team of Bailey Sullivan, Tiffany Terry, Anna Cozart and Arin Rice (three freshman and a sophomore), paced to a time of 11:42.32, almost eight seconds faster than the previous record set in 2001.
